"2026 will see the touring of the 'Romeo and Juliet' musical"
The much-anticipated tour of the musical "Romeo & Juliet - Love is Everything" is set to commence in August 2026, paying tribute to the late Anna R., a member of the popular German pop duo Rosenstolz. The tour will visit several cities, including Cologne, Düsseldorf, Munich, Duisburg, Baden-Baden, Bremen, Frankfurt, Vienna, Austria, and Zürich, Switzerland.
Based on William Shakespeare's classic tragedy, the musical has been a hit since its premiere in Berlin in March 2023, garnering over 400,000 spectators. Ulf Leo Sommer, possibly a member of the production team, aptly describes the musical as being "about love, sex, and death."
The musical, which is currently playing at the Theater des Westens in Berlin, has incorporated both pop songs and arias, making it a unique blend of genres. One of the standout tracks is the Rosenstolz hit "Liebe ist alles" (Love is Everything), which features prominently in the production.
Another beloved Rosenstolz song, "Wie weit ist vorbei" (How Far is Gone), is also included in the musical. The work of Rosenstolz plays a significant role in the production, with the second half of the duo, Anna R., having a notable impact before her unexpected passing in her apartment in March 2025. A memorial was created at the Theater des Westens in her honour.
Plate, another member of Rosenstolz, has expressed a heartfelt wish for the audience to remember Anna during the tour performances of "Liebe ist alles" and "Wie weit ist vorbei." Plate and Sommer have collaborated on several musicals before, including the adaptation of the TV series "Ku'damm 56."
The musical "Romeo & Juliet - Liebe ist alles" was re-added to the program at the Theater des Westens following the memorial. The musical will continue to be shown at the Theater des Westens until the end of February 2026. The tour for the musical is scheduled to start in August 2026, continuing the legacy of Anna R. and the timeless tale of love and loss.
