A cinematic production was created, focusing on the famous Soviet cartoon character "Umka"

Get ready for an exciting new adventure, as Channel TNT in collaboration with film studios Soyuzmultfilm, 1-2-3 Production, and CGF studio, have completed filming on a new feature film titled "Umka". The premiere of this highly-anticipated movie is set for December 3, 2026.

Directed by Maxim Peshkov, known for his work on the series "Zhuki", the plot of the film unfolds on New Year's Eve. The story tells a tale familiar to millions from childhood, with a fresh perspective.

The film revolves around a boy named Taike, played by Yaroslav Matveyev, and a bear cub named Umka. On the morning after New Year's, they meet and form an inseparable bond. However, their friendship is put to the test when poacher Sedoy and his accomplices kidnap Umka's mother to sell her to a private zoo.

Taike, along with his family - mother Aino, father, and wise shaman grandfather - embark on a long journey to rescue Umka's mother. The film is based on the classic 1969 animated film of the same name by directors Vladimir Pekar and Vladimir Popov.

The cast also includes Marina Kravec and Pavel Priluchny as Taike's parents, Gerasim Vasiliev, Dmitry Kulichkov, Zhargal Badmazirenov, Anton Eskin, and Anastasia Lapina in various roles. Larisa Brokhmanskaya voices the bear cub Umka in the film.

Work on editing, visual effects for Umka's scenes, and music selection has begun for the film. As for the director of the film "Umka", the announcement has not been publicly disclosed yet.
