A fatal car accident on the 5&20 highway occurred as a result of a driver running a red light, according to authorities.

In the heart of Canandaigua, New York, a tragic incident unfolded on the morning of August 27 at the intersection of State Route 5&20, Hickox Road, and Cooley Road. The New York State Police conducted an investigation into a fatal collision involving a box truck and an SUV.

According to reports, Jonathan Stills, a 40-year-old resident of Lima, was driving westbound on 5&20 when he failed to stop at a red light. The crash resulted in the box truck becoming entangled with a utility pole. Sadly, Mr. Stills was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, Kassandra Yankanich, was not injured in the accident. However, a child passenger in the SUV was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with shoulder pain.

The investigation is ongoing, pending autopsy results and toxicology testing. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
