A man will traverse 750 Lime kilometers, armed with a shield and spear.
In the wet and gray weather of Rheinbrohl, Rhineland-Palatinate, 27-year-old content creator Finnian Garvey began his epic journey on the German Limes Hiking Trail. The trail, spanning approximately 770 kilometers, will take Finnian through various landscapes, with the finish line in Bavaria.
Finnian's motivation for this endeavour is to make cultural heritage accessible and visible. The trail passes near his hometown in Hesse, home to the significant cultural heritage site, the German Limes.
Finnian, who has previously hiked through rainy Ireland, shares his adventures on social media, inviting others to join him virtually on his journey. He plans to run and sleep outdoors for approximately 60 days, covering the trail at an impressive pace.
However, Finnian's concern looms large. He is worried about sustaining an injury that might force him to abandon his hike. His clothing, based on historical findings, is untested on a long tour, and he is particularly concerned about his barefoot shoes and the potential for foot injuries.
Despite these concerns, Finnian's cloak serves multiple purposes during his hike. It functions as his sleeping bag, hood, and rain protection. His feet are already wet at the start of his hike, but Finnian is determined to endure the discomfort, even if it means being wet at night.
Finnian's ambition doesn't stop at completing the hike. He aims to set a world record on the German Limes Hiking Trail. However, the record-breaking aspect of his journey remains unspecified.
As Finnian embarks on this adventure, we wish him the best of luck and look forward to following his journey on social media.
