A quick glance at Samsung's latest XR headgear offering
Samsung has taken a significant step forward in the realm of technology with the announcement of Project Moohan, a mixed reality headset, back in December. The device, which is being co-developed with industry leaders like Google and Qualcomm, is expected to change how we interact with the physical and virtual worlds.
The codename "Moohan" means "Infinity" in Korean, and it represents Samsung's belief to deliver unparalleled, immersive experiences within an infinite space. At the heart of Project Moohan lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, supported by 16 GB of RAM, making it a powerhouse for AR/VR tasks.
Samsung unveiled Project Moohan in a blog post just a month before Galaxy Unpacked, possibly because it was not intended to be a focus of the showcase. We saw prototypes of Project Moohan at the event, but no new information was provided. Samsung confirmed at the event that we'd learn more about Project Moohan later in the year.
Project Moohan is part of the Android XR ecosystem, and Samsung has multiple projects planned underneath this umbrella, with Project Moohan being one of them. The device will feature state-of-the-art displays, although the details are currently too vague to mean anything.
One of the key features of Project Moohan is its passthrough capabilities and natural multi-modal input. Interactions with the headset will be more natural and intuitive, designed to bridge the gap between the digital and physical worlds.
Samsung is working closely with Google to define the operating system, user interface, and hardware for Project Moohan. This collaboration is aimed at creating a seamless and integrated experience for users.
However, no new concrete details on Project Moohan's hardware were provided at Galaxy Unpacked 2025. Samsung did not share any new details about Project Moohan at the event, and we will have to wait until later in the year to learn more.
The final design of Project Moohan is subject to change, but one thing is certain: Samsung is aiming high with this ambitious project. With its focus on innovation and collaboration, Project Moohan promises to be a game-changer in the mixed reality space.
