Abercrombie subsidiary, Gilly Hicks, shows potential investment interest in Spain's market.
In a move to further solidify its presence in Europe, American clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch is considering expanding its brand portfolio with the potential entry of its lingerie chain, Gilly Hicks, into Spain.
The company, which has already made a mark in Spain with its first store in the Madrid neighborhood of Salamanca, is now looking to establish a foothold in other Spanish cities. However, the specific cities for Gilly Hicks' potential locations in Spain and the timeframe for its potential entry remain unknown.
Abercrombie & Fitch has been on a growth trajectory this year, with its revenue for the period from February to October reaching an impressive $2,829.3 million, marking a significant 22% increase. The company's profits also saw a substantial rise, reaching $108 million, a jump of 87%.
Gilly Hicks, known for its range of products including men's and women's lingerie, pajamas, accessories, and perfumes, shares a similar concept with Abercrombie & Fitch and its sister brand Hollister. The brand made its European debut last year with its first store in London, and recently opened its second European store in Cardiff, the capital of Wales.
Ana FernΓ‘ndez, manager of the Madrid Abercrombie store, discussed Gilly Hicks' potential entry into Spain. "We are excited about the possibility of Gilly Hicks joining us in Spain," she said. "We believe the brand's unique offerings would resonate well with our customers."
Meanwhile, Abercrombie & Fitch is also contemplating opening a second store in Spain, specifically in Barcelona. The status of this potential expansion, however, remains undisclosed.
It's worth noting that Gilly Hicks has already made its mark in Germany, with its entry into the German city of Oberhausen. However, there is no publicly available information specifying the individuals currently responsible for planning the establishment of Gilly Hicks stores in Spain.
Despite the ongoing expansion, Abercrombie & Fitch's profits only rose by 1% in the third quarter, a slight dip compared to the impressive growth seen in the first two quarters. The company's revenue for the third quarter saw a 21.5% increase, maintaining its growth momentum.
As of now, Gilly Hicks has fourteen stores worldwide, with potential for further expansion in the future. The company's entry into Spain, if it happens, would undoubtedly add to its global footprint.
