Accident in high-income region involving drunk driving and reckless disregard for traffic rules on the road

A traffic accident involving three cars occurred on the state road L1044 between Neuenstein-Neufels and Niedernhall on Tuesday morning at approximately 07:15 AM. The incident resulted in minor injuries for all three drivers and significant material damage, estimated at least 15,000 euros.

The accident was caused by a rabbit crossing the road, but the main cause of the subsequent chaos was a 37-year-old driver, who was under the influence of alcohol. The driver, a resident from an unspecified location, was stopped by the Ohringen police station at approximately 10 AM on Tuesday.

According to reports, the 37-year-old was the first to drive past the scene of the accident. A patrol car was parked across the road to prevent the driver from continuing, but he disregarded the officers and continued towards them. A quick maneuver with the patrol car eventually managed to prevent a collision.

The 28-year-old driver of a VW Passat at the rear of the column was unable to stop in time and collided with the Mercedes Benz, which was then pushed into the VW Golf Plus driven by a 22-year-old and a 32-year-old, respectively. All three vehicles sustained damage in the accident.

The alcohol breath test showed a reading of 1.5 per mille for the 37-year-old driver. As a result, he was arrested and his driver's license was confiscated. A blood sample was taken from him at the scene and again at his home address, less than two hours later.

The driver now faces charges of drunk driving and endangering traffic. The road was closed for about two hours due to spilled fluids. The drivers of the other two cars involved in the accident were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
