Accident involving hazardous materials on A3 highway causes injuries; fire department responds to the scene

In an unexpected turn of events, a traffic accident involving two trucks occurred on Autobahn 3 near the Solingen/Langenfeld interchange at 3:30 PM. The incident caused significant disruption, with many vehicles still stuck on the highway.

Upon arrival, the Solingen fire department deployed approximately 80 personnel to manage the situation. Fire stations from Mangenberg, Ohligs/Merscheid, and Wald were staffed to assist in the operation.

Two truck drivers and three police officers were lightly injured in the accident. Medical assistance was required for one passenger in a car during the deployment. A total of six individuals were injured in total.

Initially, emergency personnel from the German Red Cross and the Maltese Aid Service were deployed to support drivers waiting in the traffic jam. Volunteers from these organisations, along with the fire department, also prepared support for the injured drivers.

The recovery operation of the damaged truck on A3 has been completed by a towing company. However, a leaking liquid with primarily corrosive properties was identified, posing a potential threat. The Autobahn remains closed in both directions as a precautionary measure.

The liquid, which is heavier than air, poses no further risk due to current temperatures. The remaining work will be continued by a specialized disposal company.

It's worth noting that there are no search results indicating that the fire department from TUIS supported any sites to control the effects of the accident involving hazardous materials on the Autobahn 3.

In a separate incident, two units of the Solingen emergency services were dispatched to a fire incident on Barler Straße at around 20:10. Upon arrival, they found only burnt food on a stove, and no further action was required.

The A3 incident has now been concluded for the fire department, marking the end of a challenging day on the Autobahn. A total of 80 firefighters from various fire stations were involved in the operation, along with 18 emergency personnel from DRK / MHD.

The safety and well-being of those involved in the accident remains the top priority, and efforts are ongoing to clear the highway and ensure the safe passage of motorists.
