Accident on A5 Motorway Near Freiburg: 72-Year-Old Driver Injured

On August 31, 2025, at 16:30, a serious accident occurred on the A5 motorway near Freiburg, heading towards Karlsruhe. A 72-year-old man lost control of his car for unknown reasons, causing it to veer off to the right, flip over, and end up in a ditch.

The accident resulted in a closure on the motorway, causing traffic to be diverted past the accident site. Emergency services arrived at the scene promptly and transported the man to the hospital with injuries.

The vehicle involved in the accident was completely destroyed and had to be towed away from the accident site. Traffic was diverted for approximately 45 minutes due to the accident.

Fortunately, as of current information, the driver was not severely injured. The A5 motorway towards Karlsruhe, which was previously closed due to the accident, has now reopened.

The accident occurred about one kilometer after the Freiburg-South exit on the A5 motorway near Freiburg. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and are urging drivers to exercise caution on the motorway.
