In a recent development, a 27-year-old Moroccan resident of Schwandorf has been taken into custody following a serious incident that occurred on August 31st at 19:20 in Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, Schwandorf.

The incident involved a black VW Golf, which was rented from a local car rental company a few days prior to the event by the same individual. The vehicle was being used by the suspect during the commission of the crime, as it drove into the outdoor seating area of a fast-food restaurant in the city center, lightly injuring three people aged 22 to 24.

The Criminal Police Inspectorate Amberg is investigating the incident as an attempted homicide. Initial findings suggest there are no indications of a politically motivated act.

An arrest warrant has been issued against the driver for three counts of attempted manslaughter, three counts of dangerous bodily harm, dangerous interference with road traffic, and deliberate driving without a license.

The background of the incident remains unclear and is the subject of ongoing investigations. The Criminal Police Amberg is appealing to witnesses who observed anything unusual in the area of Friedrich-Ebert-Straße on Sunday evening around 19:20 to contact them at telephone number 09621/890-0.

The Criminal Police Inspectorate Amberg is also questioning additional persons to clarify the background of the crime. The man is now in custody.
