Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, a renowned figure in the world of badminton, hails from Indonesia. His passion for the sport was ignited at the tender age of nine, under the guidance of his father, Kurniahu Gideon, a former national badminton legend and coach.

By the age of thirteen, Gideon was competing professionally in badminton. He initially made a name for himself as a singles player, winning multiple competitions. However, in 2011, he switched to doubles, clinching his first title at the Singapore International Series.

Gideon's partnership with Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo has been fruitful. They are currently ranked #1 in the BWF world ranking for men's doubles. Together, they have won several medals, including gold and silver in doubles at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, the doubles championship at the 2017 All England Open Super Series Premier, and doubles gold at the 2018 Badminton Asia Team Championships.

Gideon's ambitions extend beyond the badminton court. He is one of twelve athletes chosen by Toyota to champion the Start Your Impossible initiative. This global movement aims to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and mobile society for all. Gideon finds the initiative encouraging and believes it helps make the impossible possible.

In partnership with Toyota, Gideon is working towards improving road safety and driver behaviour in his hometown of Jakarta. He acknowledges that achieving equal access to mobility is not easy but is committed to trying his best. Gideon believes that everyone should have equal access to mobility to feel free to move wherever they want.

When not on the badminton court or working on road safety initiatives, Gideon enjoys travelling. Ora Beach in Ambon, Indonesia's Maluku province, is on his travel to-do list. Interestingly, if not a professional badminton player, Gideon would pursue a career in the automotive industry due to his interest in cars.

Looking ahead, Gideon's next goal is to win the World Championship and the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 title. He hopes to achieve these milestones with his current doubles partner, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, with whom he has been training for close to four years.

Gideon's journey from a young badminton prodigy to a successful athlete and road safety advocate serves as an inspiration to many. His commitment to his sport, his community, and his personal interests make him a true champion in every sense.
