Achieving a Career Slam, the US Open's Carlos Alcaraz declares his prime objective

Alcaraz emerges victorious over Sinner, securing his second US Open title, and stands on the brink of history, as a potential fourth Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open in January would make him the youngest man to achieve the feat.

Carlos Alcaraz Secures Second US Open Crown and Aims for Australian Open Grand Slam

Carlos Alcaraz has once again proven his dominance in the men's tennis world, claiming his second Grand Slam title at the US Open. The 22-year-old Spaniard beat Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in an intense final, avenging his loss to the Italian star in the Wimbledon final earlier this year.

With this victory, Alcaraz has returned to the top of the men's game for the first time since September 2023. He now holds the record as the youngest man to win two Grand Slam titles, surpassing the previous record held by Rafael Nadal, who achieved the feat at the age of 24 in 2010.

Nadal, however, still holds the record as the youngest man to win all four majors, a career Grand Slam, which he completed at the age of 24 in 2010. Jack Nicklaus, the legendary golfer, holds the record for the youngest man to win all four major tournaments in professional golf, known as the "Modern" Grand Slam. Nicklaus completed this feat with the 1966 Open Championship at Muirfield, aged 26 years and 139 days.

Alcaraz's coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, was full of praise for the young Spaniard's performance in the final. "The performance was perfect," Ferrero said. "He showed great maturity and resilience to come back from a set down and win the match."

Ferrero also acknowledged that Alcaraz still has a lot to improve on. "He's still young and has a lot of room for growth," Ferrero said. "But he's working hard and not taking success for granted."

Alcaraz has not made it past the quarterfinals in four trips to Australia. However, he has set his sights on completing the career Grand Slam next year, starting with the Australian Open. "Winning the Australian Open next year would be a dream," Alcaraz said. "I'm going to work hard to make it happen."

Ferrero, on the other hand, does not focus on future records, such as Alcaraz winning 20 Grand Slams. "We take each day as it comes," Ferrero said. "Of course, we have big goals, but we're not going to get ahead of ourselves."

Alcaraz won the US Open without dropping more than one set throughout the tournament. This is a testament to his consistent play and mental toughness, which have been key factors in his success this year.

Novak Djokovic has won the other three major tournaments in the same period, making the men's tennis world even more competitive. However, Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated the recent major tournaments, with the last eight majors won between them and 10 of the last 13.

Since achieving his goals, Alcaraz feels amazing. "I'm so happy and proud of what I've accomplished," Alcaraz said. "But I know I have to keep working hard to maintain this level of play."

With his second US Open crown, Alcaraz has reclaimed the world number one ranking from Sinner, who he beat in the final. This is a significant achievement for the young Spaniard, who has shown that he is a force to be reckoned with in the men's tennis world.

If Alcaraz lifts the trophy in Melbourne next January, he will become the youngest man to win all four majors. Ferrero believes Alcaraz has the potential to win many more titles and Grand Slams in the future. "He has the talent, the work ethic, and the mental toughness to achieve great things," Ferrero said. "I'm excited to see what the future holds for him."
