Actions within Marburg's first "Aging Month," focusing on the transition into elderly years.
The city of Marburg, in partnership with local clubs and the volunteer agency, is excited to announce the launch of the "Move into Age" Action Month from September 1st to October 1st, 2025. This month-long celebration aims to promote health maintenance, combat loneliness, and foster joy in movement for people of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds.
The Action Month kicks off with a 3,000-step walk led by Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies on September 1st. The event will take place at a location to be announced, marking the start of over 200 movement-related activities, including sports, lectures, and interactive events.
The motto of the Action Month is "Movement knows no age," encapsulating the inclusive nature of the events planned. Activities range from walking and self-defense to yoga, ball sports, gymnastics, Nordic walking, rowing, dragon boat paddling, hiking, dance, and more.
One of the highlights of the Action Month is the Generation Dance Festival, taking place at KFZ in BiegenstraΓe 13 on October 1st. The festival will feature guided dances, information stands, and an open dance party. The prize-giving ceremony for both the action card draw and the "Schritte-Challenge" will also take place during the dance festival.
Team participation in the "Schritte-Challenge" during the Action Month is possible via the "Teamfit" app. Participants can collect points at various events and stand a chance to win prizes. Returning the action card to the advisory center with integrated care point (BiP), Am GrΓΌn 16, at the end of the Action Month enters it into a draw for a prize.
The Action Month also includes interactive activities such as inclusive hiking, moving lunch breaks, and intergenerational "Talk and Walk." A lecture titled "Movement knows no age - everyday life as an opportunity" will be given by Professor Dr. Ralf Laging on September 4th, at 5 p.m. at BiP.

It's important to note that the Action Month "Move into Age" offers additional events outside its designated period, including weekly events from clubs. One such event is the screening of the film "Ice Aged" about older people trying ice skating, which will be shown on September 10th, at 5 p.m. in the Capitol Cinema.
The city of Hamburg hosted the first Action Month "Move into Age" in 2023, and Marburg is proud to be the second city to host this inspiring event. The detailed program and action calendar for the Action Month can be found at www.bewegt-ins-alter.de. Join us in celebrating movement for all ages!
