In a daring move, British actor Jude Law has stepped into the shoes of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the film "The Wizard of the Kremlin." The film, directed by Olivier Assayas and produced by Maximilian Leo, Jonas Katzenstein, and Scott Veltri, premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday evening.

Law, known for his versatility, has approached the role with a unique perspective. He stated that he did not want to imitate Putin, but rather create a likeness using a good wig and his own acting skills. He found a resemblance with Putin during the filming process, thanks to the meticulous work of the makeup and hair departments.

To prepare for the role, Law learned Judo, a martial art that Putin is known to be an enthusiast of. He also immersed himself in footage of Putin, finding it an obsession that led him to constantly seek newer material. However, the hardest part of his preparation was the limited public image of Putin that he had to work with.

The story is told from the perspective of a young advisor, a fictional character based on Russian politician Vladislav Surkov. Paul Dano plays the young advisor in the film.

Law expressed faith in the film's script and director, Olivier Assayas. He also mentioned that they wanted to be aware that Putin is a character within a larger story and did not want to define anyone. He clarified that he was not worried about Putin's reaction to the film.

"The Wizard of the Kremlin" is competing for the Golden Lion at the festival. Law's performance as Putin has already garnered attention and anticipation for the film. With its compelling storyline and Law's transformative portrayal, "The Wizard of the Kremlin" promises to be a captivating watch.
