"Admittedly, there were only a few instances of dissatisfaction"

In an innovative and compassionate proposal, German entrepreneur Hubertus Lürbke envisions a unique sanctuary for weary travelers and truck drivers on the highway.

Lürbke, known for his forward-thinking ideas, believes that the highway is not just a path for transporting goods, but a journey for people as well. He notes that many of these travelers are truck drivers, often hailing from Eastern Europe, who may long for a bit of home amidst their long journeys.

Recognising the disadvantaged individuals who work on the highway, Lürbke seeks to create a place where everyone can pause, find a sense of belonging, and perhaps, a moment of peace.

His proposal? A church on the highway.

Located in the Körbecker Freizeitpark area, near the old oak tree, this church would serve as a beacon of hope for those passing by. Here, truck drivers and travelers alike could light a candle, take a moment to reflect, or simply rest before continuing their journey.

Lürbke hopes that this initiative would not only provide a spiritual haven but also leave these hardworking individuals with a better feeling than when they arrived. By offering a space for rest and reflection, he aims to make the highway a little less lonely for those who travel its length.

This unique idea is a testament to Lürbke's commitment to making a difference, one step at a time, on the highway. Whether it becomes a reality remains to be seen, but the proposal certainly sparks a conversation about the often-overlooked needs of those who keep our highways moving.
