Adopts Resolution for European Year of the Disabled by European Parliament and Council

On Friday, September 17, 2025, the city of Bergisch Gladbach will host a significant event aimed at raising awareness, fostering encounters, and showing solidarity. The event, inspired by World Alzheimer's Day, is themed "Strengthening Voluntary Engagement".

The Regional Office for Elderly Care, Nursing, and Dementia Bergisches Land will be holding a board meeting on this day in Bergisch Gladbach, but the specific reason for the meeting remains undisclosed.

The city center market square will transform into a hub of information, encounters, and activities. A variety of stands offering resources about care, legal precautions, and support services will be available for the public.

The "The Shining of Age" exhibition by Caritas RheinBerg will also be on display, providing a thought-provoking perspective on the topic of aging.

Interactive activities, activation games, and literature from the city library will add an engaging element to the event. For those interested in a test ride, the ADFC's E-Tandem will be available, and a cultural program at Villa Zanders is also part of the offer (registration required).

A highlight of the day will be the stop of the "Tour Demenz" in Bergisch Gladbach. The Regional Office for Elderly Care, Nursing, and Dementia Bergisches Land will join the tour at 3:25 PM, after taking a short break in the market square. The cycling group will be warmly welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives of the city and the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis.

Admission to the event is free, making it accessible to all citizens, who are warmly invited to join. It's an opportunity to learn, engage, and show support for the estimated 1.8 million people in Germany living with a dementia diagnosis.

For more information about the event, including the full daily program, visit www.ourwebsite.de/aktionstag-demenz-2025.aspx, or contact the "Aging" department at 02202 - 14 15 46 or 02202 - 14 24 67. Let's come together on September 17 to make a difference and strengthen our voluntary engagement.
