Advanced Data Center Debut by Raxio Group in Abidjan: A Significant Digital Achievement for Western Africa
In a significant stride towards enhancing digital infrastructure in West Africa, Raxio Group has launched its new data center, Raxio CoΜte d'Ivoire (CIV1), in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This modern data center, strategically positioned in a regional hub, is set to revolutionise the digital landscape of the region.
CIV1, the fifth data center by Raxio Group and their third launch in 2024, is Tier III accredited by the Uptime Institute, indicating high reliability and performance. The data center operates 24/7 and is positioned along key fiber routes, providing excellent domestic and international connectivity.
The data center's strategic location in Abidjan, a regional hub, makes it an ideal location for organisations across the economic region to host their critical infrastructure. With a capacity to accommodate up to 800 racks at full capacity and delivering 3MW of IT power, CIV1 can handle large volumes of data and provide seamless connectivity.
One of the key features of CIV1 is its robust and diverse connectivity options. Six connectivity providers currently supply fiber to the data center, ensuring a strong and reliable network. The data center will also host the country's Internet Exchange Point (CIVIX), enabling low-cost interconnection of local and international traffic in an optimal, carrier-neutral environment.
As the regional hub for the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), CIV1 is strategically positioned to serve eight francophone countries in the WAEMU territory, particularly benefiting the banking and financial sectors. The presence of Raxio CIV1 in Ivory Coast is likely to attract more investments in the tech sector and accelerate digital adoption across the region.
The launch of Raxio CIV1 comes at a time of unprecedented growth in digital transformation, data consumption, and connectivity demands across various sectors. CIV1's location in the Village of Innovation and Technology (VITIB), about 30km from Abidjan's city center, further cements its role as a key enabler of digital transformation in francophone West Africa.
In summary, Raxio CIV1 is a significant step forward in enhancing West Africa's digital infrastructure. Its strategic advantages, robust connectivity, high reliability, and positioning in a regional hub make it an ideal location for organisations to host their critical infrastructure. As the first Tier III certified carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral data center in Ivory Coast, CIV1 is poised to support the region's digital economy and foster technological innovation.
