In the city of Landshut, Janine Brabender has been appointed as the process mentor to support families with children who have disabilities. This new role, within the General Social Services Department of the Youth Welfare Office, is designed to provide guidance and assistance to families navigating the complex support systems in place.

Janine Brabender's responsibilities include discussing support offer requirements, explaining procedural processes, helping with applications, and utilising services. Her role extends to acting as a trusted intermediary when necessary.

The support offered by Janine Brabender is free and confidential, and it is open to everyone, regardless of whether they have a diagnosed disability or not. Consultations with her can be scheduled at various locations, including the town hall, institutions, home visits, online, and by phone.

Janine Brabender's role is to coordinate support and networking among advisory services for families and young people with disabilities in Landshut. She has experience in children and youth welfare, having worked in stationary integration assistance for several years.

The Children and Youth Strengthening Act (KJSG), effective since June 2021, legally reinforces an inclusive approach in children and youth welfare. Janine Brabender emphasises that advisory services should be designed in a comprehensible, perceivable, and understandable form.

The Landshut process mentor currently supports around ten families with varying needs, ranging from brief telephone consultations to home visits. She is available to advise and accompany young people up to the age of 27, as well as their parents or legal guardians.
