Novak Djokovic Chases Historic 25th Grand Slam Title in US Open Semifinals

Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic is aiming for history as he prepares to face Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals of the US Open. The Serbian player is currently chasing the 25th Grand Slam title, which would make him the sole record holder ahead of Margaret Court.

Djokovic's journey to the semifinals has been far from straightforward. He had a shaky start to the tournament, surprising him with how bad he felt and how difficult it was to recover. Despite this, he managed to win his quarterfinals match against Alcaraz, a victory that came after losing to the young Spanish player in the 2024 Wimbledon final.

The match between Djokovic and Alcaraz is expected to be physically demanding. Djokovic has not been successful in achieving the 25th Grand Slam title so far this season, and Alcaraz has been in impressive form, winning the Madrid Open and the Italian Open this year.

Djokovic's match against Fritz was incredibly close, and he was treated for neck, shoulder, and arm issues during the quarterfinals. However, he has a winning streak against Fritz, extending to 11-0.

Djokovic and Alcaraz have played each other in several Grand Slam tournaments, and Djokovic leads in their head-to-head record with a 5:3 advantage. However, their recent encounters have not been in Djokovic's favour, with Alcaraz winning their last three matches, including the 2025 US Open semifinal.

Despite the challenges, Djokovic remains optimistic. He said he no longer wants to miss family celebrations like his children's birthdays and has been performing a little dance after his victories, a dance that he learned with his daughter.

Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam title in New York two years ago, and he will be hoping to add another to his collection in the coming days. The final will be a historic moment for the sport, regardless of the outcome, as Djokovic and Alcaraz continue to push each other to new heights.
