Nfon, a cloud PBX specialist based in Munich, Germany, has announced an "innovation package" to kick off the second half of the year. The centerpiece of this package is AI Essentials, an add-on for Nfon Business Telephony designed to revolutionise the use of artificial intelligence in business communication.

AI Essentials is set to establish new standards by providing clearly formulated, actionable tasks that aim to reduce manual tasks, making communication simpler and more transparent. The add-on is seamlessly integrated into Nfon Business Telephony, ensuring a smooth user experience.

One of the key features of AI Essentials is the AI assistant Nia, who can answer specific questions about Nfon's telephony functions. Nia can also transcribe unlimited voicemails and phone calls, offering automatic transcription and summarization. This feature is expected to significantly cut down on hours lost on follow-ups and scattered information, particularly beneficial for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Moreover, AI Essentials can generate to-do lists and assign them to the right contacts, further streamlining business operations. All data processed and stored in the Nfon cloud is encrypted and secured in Germany, ensuring the highest levels of security and privacy.

It's worth noting that Nfon has not acquired AI specialists Botario, as suggested by some reports. However, the company has been focusing on regaining lost ground in the telecommunications industry following the pandemic. The introduction of AI Essentials is part of this strategic move, as Nfon aims to expand its services to a pan-European provider.

Jana Richter, Executive Vice President AI & Innovation at Nfon, emphasised the potential of AI in reducing hours lost on follow-ups and scattered information in SMEs. "AI Essentials is a crucial step towards making communication more efficient and transparent for businesses of all sizes," she said.

The introduction of AI Essentials comes at an interesting time, as RingCentral, a major competitor, introduced its own "AI Essentials" package for its business telephony solution in the second half of 2021. This move indicates a growing trend towards integrating AI into business telephony solutions.
