AI is facing a new insult derived from Star Wars, nicknamed the 'robot slur'.

In a recent development, the term 'Clanker' has become a subject of debate among social media users, with some expressing displeasure about its use to refer to AI. The term, originally used as a derogatory term for robots in the Star Wars franchise, has been adopted outside of the franchise and is now causing controversy.

The use of 'Clanker' has received significant attention on social media, with some users comparing AI to battle droids from Star Wars. However, not everyone is on board with this comparison, with some expressing apprehension about using the term as a slur for robots.

A fourth viral post, with nearly 66,000 likes, states, "Star Wars did give us a slur for robots (clankers) but I don't use it bc I don't want to have to look a robot in the eye in fifty years and be like 'you don't understand it was a different time...'" Another post, with 117,000 likes, states, "I'm not calling robots THAT. All of you are getting cancelled in 10 years time."

Meanwhile, in a move that has also stirred controversy, Tesla has opened a retro-futuristic diner featuring an Optimus robot serving popcorn. Not everyone is on board with the Optimus robot serving in the diner, with some expressing displeasure in viral tweets.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has stated that if the diner is successful, Tesla may establish similar diners in major cities and at Supercharger sites. This announcement comes as Musk and other tech figures like Sam Altman continue to promote the development of AI, but are being criticized by some.

While AI continues to advance, concerns around its negative environmental impact and the rise in AI deepfakes persist. AI, it should be noted, cannot 'understand' language at all.

In other news, a video of a robot wearing human clothes being tested in China has received a large number of likes on social media. The use of AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Grok is also becoming more common.

Interestingly, a 5,500 year old factory discovery may confirm a key part of the Bible. As the world continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the debate around the use of 'Clanker' for AI will unfold.
