Air-cushioned watercraft services arranged amidst Yakutsk's closed ice crossings for transportation needs

In the remote and frozen reaches of Yakutsk, Russia, preparations are underway for passenger transportation during the harsh interseasonal period. The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is responsible for organising this crucial service, ensuring that residents and visitors can travel safely despite the challenging conditions.

During the ice drift, the primary mode of transport will be hovercrafts and aerobots. A total of 48 hovercrafts, including 30 "Hivus-10" models and 8 "Typhoon" aerobots, will be put into operation along the route from Yakutsk to Lower Bestyakh. Additionally, 3 "Neptun-23" vessels will be deployed for transportation when conditions allow.

The hovercraft stations are strategically located in the 204th microdistrict (station "Namyv") in Yakutsk, and in Lower Bestyakh, where AO "Yakutia Airlines" operates.

As the harsh conditions of the interseasonal period can be unpredictable, it is strongly recommended to plan trips only when necessary. Passengers should keep an eye on the latest information regarding passenger transportation during this period, which can be found on the information platforms of the Ministry of Transport of Yakutia.

In cases of intense ice drift, passengers may need to transfer to aerobots for continued travel. Helicopters of AO AK "Polar Airlines" will also be available along the route from Magan Airport to the locality of "Mannyatakh" (Lower Bestyakh) to ensure uninterrupted service.

It is important to note that the main ice crossings on the Lena River are closed, except for the crossing in the direction of Khatasy - Pavlovsk. Movement of all types of motor vehicles is prohibited on these crossings.

For those planning to travel during this period, it is essential to be prepared for the unique challenges that the Yakutsk region presents. By staying informed and flexible, passengers can ensure a safe and successful journey.
