In an unexpected turn of events, Condor Flight DE 3665, scheduled to fly from the Greek island of Corfu to Düsseldorf, was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Brindisi, Italy, on Saturday. The aircraft, a Boeing 757, encountered an engine malfunction shortly after takeoff, causing a brief disruption in the airflow.

Witnesses on board the flight reported a loud bang and visible flames, as shown in videos shared on social media. However, Condor quickly clarified that the flames were a result of the engine malfunction, not an engine fire. The aircraft continued flying safely after the pilot informed air traffic control of the malfunction.

As a result of the emergency landing, 273 passengers found their journey extended. Some passengers spent the night in the terminal at Brindisi airport, while others had to stay due to insufficient hotel capacity in the area. Blankets and supply vouchers were organized for the passengers staying at the airport.

Condor promptly sent a replacement aircraft to transport the passengers to Düsseldorf on Sunday morning. The airline also apologized for the inconvenience caused and offered reimbursement for any additional costs incurred by passengers who found alternative accommodation.

The cause of the engine malfunction is currently under investigation. Condor has not released any further details about the incident, but the aircraft is currently undergoing technical checks in Brindisi.

Brindisi, approximately 200 kilometers northwest of Corfu, is no stranger to unplanned arrivals. Despite the unexpected events, the airport and Condor staff worked diligently to ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers during this challenging time.
