AI's Impact on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is Significant
In a recent panel discussion, education leaders from across the United States gathered to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. The event, moderated by Rachael Mann, CEO of EdFuture.org, brought together a diverse group of panelists, including Katelyn Boudreau, Cory Ortiz, Gabriella Rosu, and Angel Pineiro, Jr.
Katelyn Boudreau, the Director of Technology at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Massachusetts, shared insights on the importance of aligning AI tools with instructional goals and preserving the teacher-student relationship. Meanwhile, Cory Ortiz, the Dean of School of Career Education at the University of Alaska Southeast, emphasised the potential for AI to provide opportunities for humans to focus on more complex tasks.
Gabriella Rosu, who works at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona, spoke about the experimental use of AI tools like ChatGPT and Jasper in preparing students for AI use. Despite some dissatisfaction with current AI education tools, she highlighted the need for cautious regulation, educator-driven implementation, and avoiding vendor lock-in and inequities across communities to address ethical concerns.
Angel Pineiro, Jr., the VP of Strategic Academic Relationships at CompTIA, added his perspective on the role of AI in education. He reiterated that the AI is not intended to replace anyone but rather to aid in various tasks, making education more efficient and effective.
The discussion focused on building CTE pathways between schools and local businesses, with the panelists emphasising the need for collaboration and partnerships to ensure that students are equipped with the skills required by the industry. The panel concluded with a shared vision of a future where AI is used as a tool to enhance, rather than replace, human expertise in education and industry.
