Alcaraz wins the title, Auger-Aliassime ranks 13th in new standing
In the latest ATP rankings, Carlos Alcaraz has successfully defended his position as the world's top-ranked tennis player. The Spanish sensation, who made history by becoming the youngest No. 1 in history last year, has held onto the top spot for 65 weeks now.
Following close behind is Novak Djokovic, who has made a significant climb in the rankings. After reaching the semifinals of a Grand Slam 53 times in 80 appearances, Djokovic has gained three places, moving to the fourth position.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, the Canadian star, has also seen a significant improvement in his ranking. After a strong performance, he has returned to the 13th spot, a jump of 14 places from his previous position. Interestingly, Auger-Aliassime had not reached the final four of a major since the 2021 US Open.
Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz has lost one place, moving to the fifth position. Fritz was eliminated by Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the US Open 2022.
Alexander Zverev currently holds the third spot, but he is not too far ahead of Sinner, who is just 4850 points behind. Unfortunately for Jannik Sinner, he was unable to defend his US Open title this year.
Denis Shapovalov has also made a move up the rankings, moving up three places to the 14th spot. On the other hand, Gabriel Diallo has dropped two places, now ranking at 15th.
Notably, Alcaraz's impressive year includes winning the US Open 2022, his first Grand Slam title. This achievement further solidifies his position as a formidable force in the world of tennis.
In the overall year-end rankings for 2023, Novak Djokovic finished as world No. 1, followed by Carlos Alcaraz in second place.
