Alleged perpetrator charged for sexually exploiting at least five adolescents from Roswell, authorities assert, claiming encounters were facilitated through Snapchat.

In a chilling reminder of the dangers lurking online, 21-year-old Lorenzo Abarca from Ellenwood has been arrested by Roswell police on child sexual exploitation charges. Abarca is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.

The saga began when a 14-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted by Abarca, sparking an investigation by Roswell police last month. The initial connection between Abarca and the victim was made through the social media app Snapchat.

The investigation uncovered a disturbing pattern. A forensic analysis of the victim's phone revealed additional online victimization and exploitation by Abarca. Investigators believe that Abarca targeted at least five young children under the age of 16 in Roswell, Georgia.

Four more victims were identified, all of whom connected with Abarca through Snapchat and were sexually exploited online. Some of these victims also reported being physically abused and given drugs and alcohol by Abarca. The alleged abuse occurred in Fulton County, Georgia.

Roswell police are urging parents to take an active role in their child's online safety. They believe there may be more unidentified victims, and anyone with information on the case should contact Roswell Police Detective Vega at [email protected] or (770) 640-4498. Anonymous tips can be reported to Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.StopCrimeATL.org.

The identities of the unidentified victims harmed online and possibly physically abused by Abarca have not been publicly disclosed.

Abarca was charged with obscene internet contact with a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, and sodomy.

This case serves as a stark example of how quickly online interaction can turn into real-world harm. It underscores the importance of vigilance and open communication between parents and children regarding online safety.
