Altenritte's Cuckoo Festival scheduled for August 23rd and 24th, 2025

The charming town of Altenritte is gearing up for a special event this August, as the Cuckoo Community Altenritte e.V. organises the Cuckoo Festival 2025. This festival, taking place from the 23rd to the 24th of August, is a significant part of the anniversary year "1250 Years of Rittahe."

The Cuckoo Community Altenritte e.V., located at Oldenburger Straße 16, 34225, our city, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting culture, local heritage, and beautification in Altenritte. Saturday, 23rd August, promises a packed schedule. The music band GSV Eintracht takes the stage at 15:00, followed by an exhibition "1250 Years of Altenritte" at the community center. The official opening with the mayor is set for 16:30, and a tree trunk pulling event will take place at 17:30. DJ Tobbi will create an atmospheric evening from 19:00, and a traditional cuckoo baptism will take place at 20:00. The festivities will conclude at 01:00.

Sunday, 24th August, offers more family-friendly activities. A festival church service takes place at 10:30, followed by coffee, cake, and fresh waffles. Music band KSV-our city performs at 11:30, and a goulash cannon serves hearty food at 12:00. A large children's bazaar opens at midday, and a duck race takes place at 15:00. The day will end with a social gathering featuring music, concluding at 24:00.
