Amazon and Flipkart Festive Season Deals under GST 2.0
The Indian electronics market is gearing up for a significant growth during the upcoming festive season, with major players such as Flipkart and Amazon set to host their annual sales – the Big Billion Days and Great Indian Festival, respectively, starting on September 23, 2025.
According to Tarun Pathak, Research Director at Counterpoint Research, the market is expected to witness a minimum growth of 4% by volume and 8-9% by value. This positive forecast is attributed to the recent GST cut on several electronics products and the aggressive discounts offered during the sales.
Faisal Kawoosa, Chief Analyst and Founder of Techarc, predicts a 2-3% higher growth for value in the electronics industry this season compared to previous years, with sales potentially climbing by around 5%. Kawoosa also anticipates potential heavy discounts on smartphones during the festive season.
Samsung, the title sponsor of Flipkart's Big Billion Days and powering Amazon's Great Indian Festival, is believed to achieve significant sales volumes during the season. The key players in the smartphone market expected to offer significant discounts this season include Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Google, suggesting competitive pricing and potential discounts among these brands.
New launches may come with bundling offers or other promotions to attract customers. Some products with high inventory may see discounts as high as 30-40%. Discounts on electronics products during the sales are expected to range from 10% to as high as 40%.
Offline retail is receiving increased attention from electronics manufacturers, as mainline retailers are getting equal consideration from electronics manufacturers during this sale season. The GST reduction on several electronics products, including air conditioners, large-screen TVs, monitors, projectors, and dishwashers, will take effect starting September 22, 2025, further boosting demand during the sales.
The iPhone 16 model is expected to see robust sales due to the forthcoming release of the iPhone 17 series. The GST cut will also benefit Apple, as it is one of the products affected by the reduction.
All in all, the upcoming festive season is shaping up to be an exciting time for electronics consumers, with a plethora of deals and discounts on offer from major players in the industry.
