Amidst urban travel chaos, Bosch's dilemma, and prevalent skepticism, Laablinger navigates his path.
The Laiblinger Weg industrial area project in Schwieberdingen, a collaborative effort between the municipalities of Markgröningen, Hemmingen, Ditzingen, and Schwieberdingen, is moving forward, with the planning phase now essentially complete.
The project, which spans 45 hectares and is situated between the large Bosch site and the railway track, has garnered interest from both Bosch and Porsche. However, concrete details regarding the extent of their planned use remain undisclosed.
Bosch, a key player in the area, is currently reviewing several options for the industrial plots, but there has been no mention of a waning interest or plans to withdraw from the project. The division of the land, as per the town planning concept, allocates 23 hectares for an intermunicipal industrial area, 5 hectares for Schwieberdingen-based companies, and 17 hectares as a potential expansion area for Bosch.
The aim of the Laiblinger Weg industrial area is to attract companies, particularly in the fields of research and development and production, with the goal of creating as many local jobs as possible. The planned Stadtbahn Lucie, connecting the industrial area via Möglingen and Markgröningen with Ludwigsburg, would further enhance the location.
Stefan Benker, Schwieberdingen's mayor, affirms that the planning for the industrial area works with or without the Stadtbahn Lucie. The areas under the power lines will be utilised for parking spaces, with the overhead power line remaining where it is.
Porsche, while expressing a positive stance towards the project, has not made any commitments as yet. The visionary eco-park, initially planned to include Porsche in Korntal-Münchingen, has been abandoned by the residents. Interestingly, unlike the eco-park, the Schwieberdingen concept does not emphasise sustainability.
Despite the economic situation in the region appearing less favourable compared to the past, Stefan Benker is not concerned about the location of the Laiblinger Weg industrial area due to its proximity to major transportation routes. The region currently houses almost 4% of its total area in industry and commerce, which is higher than the state average of 2.1%.
The initiative Lebenswertes Strohgäu continues to monitor the project critically, viewing the division of the land as a potential indicator of a loss of interest from Bosch. However, neither the city nor Bosch has officially confirmed such a development.
The ultimate objective of the Laiblinger Weg industrial area is to ensure Schwieberdingen's economic security for the next few decades. The project's progress and potential impact on the local economy continue to be closely watched.
