Announcement of a Million Dollar AI Film Incentive and Fresh Endeavors at the 1 Billion Follower Summit in Dubai

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 1 Billion Followers Summit is set to return to Dubai from 9 to 11 January 2026. The event will take place at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre, and the Museum of the Future.

Organised by the UAE Government Media Office, the summit aims to position the UAE as a global hub for purposeful digital creation. The theme of this year's summit is "Content for Good."

The 1 Billion Followers Summit intends to provide a stronger focus on enabling creators to innovate and collaborate worldwide. Notable creators have been appointed as ambassadors for the event, and a new pavilion will be dedicated to content creation companies.

A significant development for the upcoming summit is the launch of a $1 million AI film competition, in collaboration with Google Gemini. The competition will spotlight short films fully generated through artificial intelligence, with key criteria including creativity, realism, and humanitarian messaging.

Last year's summit, held in 2025, attracted over 15,000 creators and generated 1.5 billion digital interactions. However, the organisers have not disclosed any changes in the dates or venues for the upcoming edition.

Preparatory meetings for the summit involved discussions on strategies for meaningful storytelling, combating misinformation, and embracing emerging technologies. The summit also plans to increase the number of sessions and foster international partnerships.

The 1 Billion Followers Summit is expanding its Creators Ventures Programme with an AED50 million investment for innovative projects with global cultural impact. The organisers have not announced any new collaborations with specific organisations, apart from Google Gemini for the AI film competition.

The 1 Billion Followers Summit has not made any announcements about a change in its theme or location. The event in 2025 focused on providing a platform for creators to learn, network, and collaborate, with sessions covering topics such as content creation, branding, and monetisation strategies.

As the date for the 1 Billion Followers Summit 2026 approaches, more details about the event are expected to be revealed. Stay tuned for updates on the summit, the AI film competition, and other exciting initiatives planned for this year.
