Annual Gala Celebration at San Raffaele: The Moon Festival

The Moon Festival, a unique cultural event curated by Alessia Di Pietro, Patrizia Besantini, and Simone Dipietro, is set to return for its fourth edition on September 5th and 6th, 2023, in San Raffaele Cimena Alto, a picturesque village on the outskirts of Turin, Italy.

This year's festival promises an exciting lineup of performances and installations, all centred around care, dialogue, and interdisciplinarity. Street theatre, new circus, painting, and installations will be featured, with the Gasp collective creating mysterious installations and Agro The Clown engaging the audience in his performances.

Lucia Moretti has been appointed as the curator for this year's event. She has carefully designed each intervention to be in harmony with the place, utilising courtyards, terraces, and roofs to create a truly immersive experience.

NiccolΓ² Nardelli, a hypnotist, will captivate audiences with his flying circles and spheres, while Marianna De Sanctis will mesmerise with her magic using hula hoops. Stefano Fiorina will present Hyperflipper Lunare, a performance featuring lunar marbles, and Liquid Atlas will perform live videos accompanied by classical music.

The festival is accessible, queer-friendly, and open to everyone, with a focus on non-verbal language to overcome linguistic barriers and offer a sensory, intuitive, and profound understanding.

Legambiente Piemonte and Valle d'Aosta will conduct a study on the environmental impact of the Moon Festival, with a goal to encourage at least 10% of the audience to reach the village on foot to reduce the environmental footprint.

The festival offers free events with a voluntary contribution according to one's possibilities. The shuttle from San Raffaele costs 2 euros for those over 15, while it is free for those under 15. Ferrino has provided tents and materials for the festival, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.

The Moon Festival was born from an invitation from the Pro Loco of San Raffaele, who asked the curators to rethink the patronal festival. This year, the public artificial lighting of the village will be replaced by candles and soft lights, creating a magical and intimate atmosphere.

Private individuals and shopkeepers have generously provided materials, objects, and paints for the festival's scenery, making it a truly community-driven event. With its focus on art, culture, and training, the Moon Festival is a movement of active citizenship that puts people at the centre. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!
