Annual Mentor Gathering Set for Omsk, Russia
The All-Russian Festival of Student and Youth Labor Brigade Mentors "TRUD KRUT" is set to take place in Omsk from October 15 to 17, marking a significant event in the Russian Student Brigades (RSO) calendar.
This three-day festival aims to serve as a platform for exchanging experiences, new ideas, and fostering genuine friendship among participants. Over 300 individuals from various regions of Russia are expected to attend, showcasing the traditions and experience of regional student brigades and the development of the youth labor brigade movement.
The Russian Student Brigades have a rich history, with over 20 million people graduating from the student brigade school in Russia since 1959. In 2024, over 400,000 students and schoolchildren from 85 regions of Russia participated in the Russian Student Brigades, making a significant contribution to the country's development.
The festival is supported by the Russian Student Brigades, in addition to the government of the Omsk region. It is intended to provide an opportunity to learn about Siberian traditions, as well as offering a professional skills competition, educational and discussion platforms, the exchange of best practices, cultural events, sports events, and more.
Alexander Cherepanov, head of the student brigades in the Omsk region, expressed that hosting the festival is a great honor and responsibility. He noted that the Omsk region's student brigades are known for their promotion of friendship as a hallmark of their activities.
Participants in the Russian Student Brigades gain their first work experience and fair wages, as well as opportunities to learn in-demand trades for free. The Russian Student Brigades are known for providing opportunities for students and schoolchildren to gain practical skills and contribute to the country's development.
Mentoring is considered the foundation of intergenerational continuity in the RSOs, as it passes on not just knowledge, but values to help build the future. The festival's program will feature representatives of youth labor brigades, mentors, commanders, and members of student pedagogical brigades.
