Anticipated Highlights of GITEX Nigeria 2025: Insights into Africa's Most Notable Tech Extravaganza
The Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) is making its debut in Nigeria this week, bringing together high-level panels, fireside chats, exclusive sessions, and a Startup Festival in both Abuja and Lagos.
The event, which runs from September 1 to September 4, will focus on topics such as AI, cloud services & infrastructure, fintech, 5G, data governance, startup growth, and the future of work.
In Abuja, discussions on improving Nigeria's digital infrastructure will take place, with artificial intelligence as a central theme. Notable speakers include Dr. Bosun Tijani, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Dr. Oluwatobi Olabiyi, and Lucia Russo. Hon. Bosun Tijani will sit down for a debate on smarter governance and data-driven systems, while Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi and Dahlia Khalifa will lead a panel on how Africa can align policy, capital, and innovation. The AI program in Abuja will be supported by global players like Microsoft, AWS, and IBM, along with African policymakers, researchers, and investors.
The AI program in Abuja will conclude with the unveiling of a continental roadmap for shared AI infrastructure. After Abuja, the event will move to Lagos.
In Lagos, the Startup Festival will take place at the Landmark Centre, expected to be Nigeria's largest gathering of founders, investors, and ecosystem builders. The Startup Festival will focus on fast-growing verticals like fintech, healthtech, agritech, AI, cloud, e-commerce, and cybersecurity. Over 1,000 startups and 300 investors are expected to attend.
The event will feature global and local tech giants, African innovators, policymakers, investors, and startups. William Bao Bean, Ashley Lewis, Gbite Oduneye, and Olu Oyinsan will talk about how African VCs are moving from micro funds to institutional platforms. Precious Oyelade and Abraham Durosawo will discuss shifts in governance and strategy.
The Tech Expo will happen at the Eko Hotel, serving as the flagship showcase of GITEX Nigeria, spotlighting enterprise innovation and the future economy. The Tech Expo will feature over 100 exhibitors and global brands like Nvidia, unveiling solutions in AI, 5G, cloud, cybersecurity, and creative tech. The Fireside Chats at GITEX Nigeria 2025 will feature industry leaders, technology experts, government officials, and entrepreneurs from Nigeria and the global tech community.
The Discovery Zone Pitch Fest will take place during the Startup Festival, where founders will pitch their ideas with live feedback, audience votes, and unpredictable twists.
The Startup Festival in Lagos will also include the unveiling of the first-ever continental roadmap for shared AI infrastructure, building upon the discussions held in Abuja.
With its focus on innovation, collaboration, and the future of technology in Africa, GITEX Nigeria 2025 promises to be an exciting event for the tech community in Nigeria and beyond.
