Apple Poised to Roll Out Fitness-Focused Apple Watch, Potentially Affecting Garmin Sales
In the world of wearable technology, two tech giants are gearing up to release new smartwatch models that are set to shake up the market. Apple and Samsung are set to announce their respective "pro" models, the Apple Watch "pro" and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, this fall.
The Apple Watch "pro" is expected to boast a number of improvements over its predecessors. For instance, it may feature a 2-inch display, offering about 7% more screen real estate than the current models. This larger display is rumoured to be a shatter-resistant one, designed to withstand the rigours of outdoor activities.
The Apple Watch "pro" could also offer enhanced hiking and swim tracking, making it an attractive option for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. It's also likely to have a more rugged chassis, further emphasising its suitability for adventurous users.
In terms of materials, the Apple Watch "pro" could be made of titanium, similar to some training-centric smartwatches like models from Garmin. This could mark a departure from the stainless steel and aluminium used in previous Apple Watch models. Interestingly, the pricier Apple Watch Edition, which is made of titanium, might be discontinued.
The Apple Watch Series 8, on the other hand, will likely have updated displays for the 41mm and 45mm sizes, a new chip, and a body temperature tracking feature. However, it is not expected to have the same rugged features as the "pro" model.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also preparing to launch the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. This model looks set to resemble the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic in appearance. While details about its features are limited, it is expected to come in titanium, offering potential competition for iPhone users.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is expected to offer direct competition for the Apple Watch "pro", particularly in the outdoor and sports markets. It is also anticipated to have improved GPS and real-time stamina tracking, as well as a display more suited for the outdoors, similar to the Garmin Epix.
As we move towards the fall, more details about both Apple and Samsung's respective smartwatches are expected to be revealed. It's an exciting time for wearable technology enthusiasts, as these new models could redefine what we expect from our smartwatches.
Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the official announcements!
