Apple Weeks initiated in Harsewinkel
The Harsewinkel Apple Weeks, organised by The Local Environmental Agenda, are set to begin on Tuesday, September 2. The kickoff event promises an exciting lecture by fruit tree expert Helge Jung, who will share insights about the planting and care of old apple varieties at the Harsewinkel Homestead.
For those interested in identifying their own old apple varieties, the event offers a unique opportunity. Private individuals can submit their apple samples for identification by Hans-Joachim Bannier from Bielefeld. To ensure accurate identification, at least 5 to 7 well-developed, ripe, average-sized apples should be provided, with the stems present. The apples should not contain worms, be rotten, or have fall spots. A photo of the tree can also help with identification.
The lecture by Helge Jung will commence at 7:30 PM on September 2. Apple samples can be submitted between 7:15 PM and 7:30 PM on the same day. The event takes place in Harsewinkel, Germany.
Following the kickoff event, the annual juice pressing action will take place on September 25. The Harsewinkel Apple Weeks aim to celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of old apple varieties, making it an event not to be missed for apple enthusiasts.
