Appointee Named as Children's Advocate in Omsk Region

In the Omsk region of Russia, Governor Vitaly Khotsenko has made a significant decision regarding the protection of children's rights. Elizaveta Stepkina, who has served as the children's rights ombudsman since 2012, has been reappointed to this role for another year.

The appointment was formalised by a decree signed by Governor Khotsenko himself. Stepkina's tenure, under the new legislation, will run until September 2nd, 2023. Interestingly, this will mark her fourth term as the children's rights ombudsman under Governor Khotsenko, as she has also served under his two predecessors, Alexander Burkov and Viktor Nazorov.

Stepkina's predecessor in this role was Natalya Ivanova. It is worth noting that Governor Khotsenko has also recently reappointed the acting ombudsman for the protection of entrepreneurs' rights in the Omsk region.

Stepkina's dedication to the cause of children's rights is evident in her uninterrupted service of over a decade. Her tenure as children's ombudsman will end on September 1st, 2023, after which she will be relieved of her position and reappointed the very next day.

This move by Governor Khotsenko is a testament to the importance he places on the protection of children's rights in the Omsk region. With Stepkina's extensive experience and commitment, the region can look forward to continued advocacy for the rights and welfare of its children.
