In a heated exchange in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, of misusing the Army. The incident occurred at the Gandhi statue on Mayo Road, where a temporary structure built by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for their 'Bhasa Andolon' stir was removed.

The Indian Army had given permission for events in the Maidan area for a duration of two days, as directed by the Supreme Court. However, the Army contingent began removing the temporary structure after several reminders were sent to the organizers for its removal.

Banerjee announced that the venue had been shifted to Rani Rashmoni Avenue at Esplanade with permission from the Army. She expressed disappointment at the disrespect shown to the Army and law and order by the BJP. Banerjee stated that she has no grievance against the Army, but they always work for the country.

The Chief Minister claimed that the Army's actions were influenced by the BJP, raising suspicions about the country's direction. She criticized the BJP for their political vendetta and misuse of the Army. Banerjee alleged that her microphone connection was snapped, the stage was demolished, and the pandal was removed with the help of the Army.

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved major infrastructure projects, but the attention in Kolkata remains focused on this contentious issue. Banerjee mentioned that there are areas of the Army and Railways that the TMC never disturbs. She claimed that the Army could have consulted with the police to remove the temporary structure, instead of taking matters into their own hands.

The exact address of the event venue built by the Trinamool Congress, where Mamata Banerjee and the army complained about the destruction, is not publicly specified. Permission for events longer than three days needs to be obtained from the MoD, Govt of India. Banerjee's program was scheduled for every Saturday and Sunday at the location.

The incident has sparked a nationwide debate, with Banerjee's allegations being met with mixed reactions. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to these accusations.
