Armed Individual with Crutches Assaults Bystander and Police Officer (LPI-G)

In Gera, Germany, on September 3, 2025, a 42-year-old Russian man caused a disturbance at a bakery on Heinrichstraße. At approximately 2:50 PM, he harassed, splashed water on, and insulted two customers, who were both German and aged 74 and 68.

The incident did not end there. The same man also attacked a 43-year-old passerby with his walking aid, causing minor injuries. Two security guards from a nearby shopping center managed to hold the man and hand him over to the police.

The police officer injured during the attack was a 39-year-old colleague who was slightly injured while being attacked by the man. The Russian man was taken into custody and will face further charges for assault and resisting arrest.

The investigation for the initial incidents of insults and dangerous bodily harm is being conducted by the Gera Police Inspectorate. The man has been banned from Heinrichstraße, but he did not accept the ban and became aggressive again, attacking the police officers.
