German Armed Forces Welcomes New Recruits in Düsseldorf

Two volunteers, Maike and Jason, have spent the past two months at the Westfalen Barracks in Ahlen, undergoing basic military training as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.

Maike, a former kindergarten teacher from Cologne, and Jason, a motorcycle mechanic from Kassel, have chosen to join the German Armed Forces, seeking new challenges and opportunities.

The interest in the German Armed Forces has been growing, with a 30% increase in volunteers this year. This trend is reflected in the large number of recruits, over 400, who will be participating in an oath-taking ceremony in Düsseldorf on September 4, 2025.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Bundeswehr, currently Boris Pistorius, will preside over the ceremony, which will take place in front of the state parliament in Düsseldorf. The event is a special moment for the recruits, according to the German Armed Forces.

Training at the Westfalen Barracks in Ahlen requires physical exertion from the recruits. They are required to assume various positions, such as crouching with one knee on the ground and ready to fire their rifles.

Jason, who plans to stay with the German Armed Forces after his six-month training, has made provisions for his future. He joins Maike, who decided to join the German Armed Forces to seek new challenges, in their commitment to serve their country.

To protect them from harassment and ridicule on social media, the German Armed Forces have not disclosed the names of the recruits. However, Maike and Jason are among the recruits who have undergone basic military training at the Westfalen Barracks in Ahlen.

Further reports on this topic will be available on the website on September 4, 2025.
