Arrest Made in Connection with Reutlinger Fire Incident
On August 26, 2025, a fire broke out in Hofstattstraße, Reutlingen, as reported by several residents. The incident, which occurred around 1:15 AM, started in a waste container and spread to a garage of an adjacent house, with pallets stored near the garage also appearing to have been set on fire.
The Public Prosecutor's Office Tübingen, the Criminal Investigation Department, and the Police Station Reutlingen have launched an investigation into the incident. The police have arrested a 36-year-old suspect in connection with the fire. The suspect, a German national, was provisionally arrested on Friday and presented to the judge at the Tübingen District Court in the afternoon. The judge issued the warrant of arrest applied for by the Public Prosecutor's Office Tübingen.
The suspect is currently in custody and being investigated by the public prosecutor's office and police for suspected severe arson. Investigations continue into whether she may be responsible for other fires in the city region. Several pieces of evidence were seized during a search of her Reutlingen apartment.
An 18-year-old was taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. Thankfully, no further injuries were reported.
