Arrest number three in connection with fatal bus stop shooting of Hamilton student
In a tragic turn of events, a shooting incident claimed the life of Harsimrat Randhawa, a 21-year-old Mohawk College student, on April 17. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road.
The shooting was a result of an exchange of gunfire between two groups. Jaiyden Jones, aged 29, was arrested on Sept. 8 in connection with the shooting and is currently charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. Jerdaine Foster, aged 32, was arrested last month and charged with the same offences as Jaiyden Jones.
Obiesea Okafor, aged 26, was also arrested and is facing three counts of attempted murder in relation to the shooting. The arrests of Foster and Okafor occurred after police had previously made one arrest in connection with the shooting. However, these arrests do not affect the charges against Jaiyden Jones, who remains charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder.
Harsimrat Randhawa, an international student from India, was fatally shot on April 17. According to investigators, she was waiting for a bus when she was struck by a stray bullet. Despite the ongoing investigation, no further details about the identities or arrests of the remaining suspects have been released.
