In a series of coordinated operations, the Imo and Enugu State Police Commands have taken significant steps against the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

On Saturday, the Imo State Police Command, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Odeyeyiwa Olademeji, dislodged terrorist hideouts in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State. The operation, which took place in Ubaa, Umuaka, at about 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 18, resulted in the arrest of Onoh Chidera, a 32-year-old suspect allegedly involved in the attack on Ezeagu Police Station earlier in the year, during which arms and ammunition were stolen.

During the operation, security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 magazines, 40 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, 60 rounds of live GPMG ammunition, two pump action guns, 582 live cartridges, two Biafra flags, and one POS machine.

Armed terrorists guarding the camps engaged security operatives in a gun duel before fleeing with multiple gunshot injuries. No new information on the attack on Ezeagu Police Station or the stolen arms and ammunition has been released.

In a separate incident, the Enugu State Police Command arrested a notorious member of IPOB/ESN. The suspect's name has not been disclosed, and no mention of any new incidents or arrests in Enugu State related to IPOB/ESN has been made.

Discreet investigation has commenced to unravel the suspects' networks and apprehend other collaborators in both Imo and Enugu States. However, no new information on this investigation is available at this time.

The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed police tactical units working with other security agencies in these operations. The Imo State Police Command is the authority leading the operation against hideouts of the proscribed organisation IPOB and its armed wing, ESN, in Njaba Local Government Area, Imo State.

This marks a significant blow to the activities of IPOB/ESN in the affected states and demonstrates the commitment of the Nigerian Police Force to maintaining peace and security in the region. Further updates on these operations and any related developments will be provided as they become available.
