New Volvo XC70 Unveiled: A Modern SUV Tailored for Chinese Market

Volvo has announced the release of a new model, the XC70, specifically designed to meet the needs of Chinese customers. Initially, the XC70 will be available in China, with a later introduction planned for the European market.

The new XC70 is a modern SUV that boasts a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is positioned higher than the XC60, offering a spacious interior with comfortable seats and practical storage solutions. The vehicle's design is inspired by Volvo's fully electric models, with a closed grille and vertical, C-shaped tail lights seamlessly integrated into the rear window.

The XC70 shares the name with its predecessor but is not the same vehicle. The old XC70 was a high-riding, ruggedized midsize estate based on the V70. In contrast, the new XC70 is built on the SPA (Scalable Modular Architecture) platform for plug-in hybrids, ensuring an efficient combustion engine and an all-electric range of up to 200 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC standard.

The interior of the new XC70 is equipped with a 12.3-inch driver display and a 15.4-inch touchscreen, arranged horizontally for clear navigation and other functions. An optional 92-inch augmented reality head-up display projects relevant information into the driver's field of view, enhancing safety and convenience. The infotainment system is equipped with an AI-powered voice assistant that can control vehicle functions and make calls.

The new XC70 also features the characteristic "Thor's Hammer" design of the LED daytime running lights. Matrix LED headlights are located below these, providing excellent visibility in various conditions. High charging power ensures short charging times for the XC70. At fast-charging stations, the vehicle can charge to 80% in just 23 minutes.

Moreover, the new XC70 offers bi-directional charging, allowing it to function as a power bank when needed. This feature, along with the vehicle's modern design and advanced technology, makes the new Volvo XC70 an exciting addition to the SUV market.

Stay tuned for more updates on the European market introduction of the new Volvo XC70.
