A 30-year-old man is under investigation for arson following a fire incident in a multi-story accommodation in Munich, Germany, on August 29th. The fire, which occurred in the Perlach district, caused significant damage but thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Upon arrival, emergency services found smoke billowing from the building. The fire brigade was swiftly dispatched to extinguish the fire, and it was later discovered that the source of the blaze was a mattress set ablaze in a specific room within the accommodation.

The affected room is now no longer habitable due to the extent of the damage. The exact cost of the property damage is yet to be specified, but it is estimated to be in the several tens of thousands of euros.

Investigation into the incident is being led by Kommissariat 13, with the police also called to the scene. The suspect, who is a resident of a homeless shelter in Munich, was found in the accommodation and offered considerable resistance during the investigation and subsequent blood test.
