Art showcase in Sofia presenting pieces by artists from Turkey
In the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria's capital, the 6th International Friendship Exhibition has recently opened its doors, welcoming art enthusiasts from near and far. The exhibition, titled The Color and Poetry of the Soul, showcases the works of 45 artists, most of whom hail from Turkey.
One of the notable contributors to this exhibition is Berna Bozkurt, an artist who finds it meaningful to present her art in a city closely associated with Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Bozkurt's works often feature the lotus flower as a metaphor, symbolising rebirth and renewal.
Another artist who has made a significant impact at the exhibition is Filiz Sahin, whose work titled Leyla is a standout piece. However, the artist who presented Leyla remains unspecified in the available search results. Sahin, who expressed her excitement about her first visit to Bulgaria, revealed that her artistic style incorporates themes such as layers of loneliness, journeys into the past, and images connecting past and future.
The exhibition has attracted interest not only from Bulgarian art enthusiasts but also from artists and art lovers from Germany, Romania, and Bulgaria. Curator and painter Rafiye Karaca is confident that each participating artist will leave an impression with their symbolic works.
Speaking at the opening, Turkey's Ambassador to Sofia, Mehmet Sait Uyanik, underlined the strength of bilateral relations and described the partnership with Bulgaria as excellent across all fields. He further emphasised that such projects not only strengthen friendship but also allow people of both countries to get to know each other better.
In a heartening gesture, Ambassador Uyanik also highlighted that this exhibition is planned to travel to Brussels and be displayed at the European Parliament, further showcasing the cultural ties between the countries.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 5 September, offering art lovers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the colour and poetry of the soul.
