Artistic Football Encounter: The Hansa Exhibition's Attraction to the Masses
In the heart of Rostock, the Kunsthalle has been a beacon for art enthusiasts and football fans alike, thanks to the captivating exhibitions it has hosted this year. The latest addition to its impressive lineup is a comprehensive retrospective of two renowned artists, Rosa Loy and Hans Ticha.
JΓΆrg-Uwe Neumann, the director of the Kunsthalle, has expressed his delight with the successful exhibition, which has been a real visitor magnet. Neumann, a confessed football fan and a member of Hansa for 20 years, has been particularly pleased with the "Round & Angular - Sometimes Dirty - 60 Years of FC Hansa" exhibition, which has attracted many visitors since its opening in May. Nearly 20,000 visitors have streamed into the special exhibition, and it has been particularly busy in the last weeks before its end on September 7.
The Hansa Rostock graffiti wall advertising the exhibition has now been dismantled, but the memories of the captivating artworks remain. The exhibition featured nearly 20,000 visitors who would not otherwise have gone to the museum, according to Neumann.
In addition to the "Round & Angular" exhibition, the Kunsthalle is also hosting a retrospective of the Leipzig artist Rosa Loy, with the exhibition "Sun in Mind" running from September 20. Neumann considers Rosa Loy to be one of the outstanding German artists, and the exhibition offers a comprehensive selection of her works from the past years, including paintings, drawings, collages, graphics, and objects.
But the artistic journey doesn't end there. At the end of the year, the Kunsthalle will present a comprehensive retrospective of the artist Hans Ticha. Ticha's paintings are at the center of the retrospective, and the largest comprehensive exhibition of Ticha's work to date will be on display in Rostock from December 14 to mid-March 2026, and will continue to Nuremberg afterwards.
The Hansa exhibition, however, cannot be extended due to pending projects, but a video with impressions from the opening of the Hansa Rostock exhibition in the Kunsthalle is available for those who missed it. Each panel from the Rostock artist group ARTunique, which was also on display as part of the Hansa exhibition, is for sale for a good cause until September 8, with the proceeds going towards the purchase of new floodlights for FC Hansa.
Many families with football-enthusiastic children have also visited the exhibition, making it a unique and memorable experience for all. Each panel is a unique piece and can be purchased for 100 euros each, making it an affordable way to bring a piece of the exhibition home.
Overall, the Kunsthalle in Rostock has once again proven to be a hub for art and culture, attracting visitors from far and wide with its captivating exhibitions. Whether you're a football fan, an art enthusiast, or both, there's something for everyone at the Kunsthalle.
