Ashok Leyland and Reliance Industries Reveal India's Premier Hydrogen Fueled Heavy-duty Truck
At India Energy Week in Bangalore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the unveiling of a groundbreaking vehicle - India's first hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck. The event took place on February 6, 2023.
The new H2-ICE heavy-duty truck range by Ashok Leyland, the flagship commercial vehicle manufacturing company of the Hinduja Group, is powered by hydrogen fuel and is based on its conventional diesel-based combustion engine. This demonstrates Ashok Leyland's technological leadership and commitment to the Clean Mobility Mission.

The collaboration between the two companies has resulted in this flagship project.
The hydrogen-powered truck has been under test since August 2022. N Saravanan, President and Chief Technology Officer of Ashok Leyland, stated that they want to continue their path to innovate and leverage new technologies to be a leader in sustainable and environment friendly mobility.
Ashok Leyland claims that the H2-ICE heavy-duty truck range would help quicker migration to cleaner energy sources at a relatively lower cost delta.
