Astroneer's upcoming update allows for the construction of immense megastructures.

In an exciting development for space-exploration enthusiasts, the indie studio System Era Softworks has announced a new expansion for their popular sandbox game, Astroneer. Scheduled to release in November, the expansion, named Astroneer: Megatech, will introduce a new dimension of base building and automation to the game.

Currently, Astroneer is available at a 67% discount on Steam until September 8, making it an ideal time for new players to jump into the action. For those who already enjoy the game, the upcoming expansion promises to bring even more possibilities for exploration and creation.

The heart of the expansion is the introduction of a massive greenhouse-like structure, a large-scale construction with a glass roof. This structure, along with the giant bulb-shaped building and a central, space-based platform, are all featured in the concept art for Astroneer: Megatech. The bulb-shaped building appears to consume resource canisters and put them to work on a giant wheel-like mechanism.

The expansion will also introduce a new scale of construction for players' exploratory infrastructure. This includes the ring platform, a central hub for operations, potentially requiring a significant amount of resources to complete. The design of the ring platform includes structures that may be engines or asteroid grabbers.

To help with the continued development of Astroneer, System Era Softworks enlisted the help of Red Kite Games, the team behind popular titles like Fall Guys and Two Point Hospital. This collaboration will ensure that Astroneer: Megatech delivers an engaging and immersive experience for players.

In addition to the expansion, a free update will also be introduced. This update will allow resources to be transported between bases without personal intervention, making resource management more efficient and streamlined. The update will also introduce a cargo system and an interplanetary transport network, which will greatly aid in resource management across different planets.

System Era Softworks is also working on another project, Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions, which is not a sequel to Astroneer. More information about Astroneer: Megatech can be found in System Era's Astroneer: Megatech blog.

For those eager to get their hands on Astroneer: Megatech, pre-purchases are now available on Steam. Get ready to build massive Megastructure projects using new and existing technology, and explore the vast universe of Astroneer like never before!
