"At 11:09, Russian attacks extend to bridges on the Dnipro river"
In a significant escalation, Russia launched its largest combined air attack since the start of the Ukraine invasion overnight Saturday, hitting the capital Kyiv and causing destruction to two industrial enterprises on the outskirts of the city. The US President, Donald Trump, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, stating, "I'm not happy with the whole situation."
Following the heavy attack, President Trump has signaled his readiness for further sanctions against Russia. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has expressed hope for a decisive US reaction. The US, in response, is reportedly planning to potentially deploy private U.S. military companies in Ukraine after the conflict ends, with the aim of deterring further Russian attacks.
Russia, on the other hand, has been actively recruiting soldiers. Since the beginning of the year, they have signed contracts with around 280,000 soldiers, with a goal of recruiting 343,000 people by the end of the year. The current rate for signing a first contract is 2 million rubles, approximately 21,000 euros.
However, the Ukrainian border guards report no signs of military group formation that could pose a threat to Ukraine on Belarusian territory. The Russian-Belarusian exercises are expected to end on September 10, with the active phase taking place from September 12 to 16.
Amidst these developments, US President Trump has announced that he will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin "very soon." The exact nature of their discussion remains unclear.
In the midst of the conflict, the battle for the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk is currently underway. The deputy head of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Vadym Skibitsky, reports that Russia is producing 2,500 missiles, including cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and hypersonic missiles this year.
Germany has also pledged to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul made the announcement, but details regarding the nature and extent of the guarantees are yet to be disclosed.
Despite these tensions, the Russian Ministry of Defense denies attacking the building of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv, instead claiming to have hit drone facilities and air force support points in Ukraine. Andriy Demchenko, the spokesperson of the state border service, warns that provocations are not ruled out during the Russian-Belarusian exercises.
At least 5 people are killed and 44 others injured in the massive Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine overnight Saturday. The Ukrainian people continue to face the brunt of this ongoing conflict, with the hope for a peaceful resolution growing increasingly distant.
