At Munich's Oktoberfest, beer drinkers will find water to be pricier than their favorite brews.

The annual Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Germany, is known for its lively atmosphere, traditional Bavarian food, and copious amounts of beer. However, this year's event, taking place from September 20 to October 5, comes with a hefty price tag.

According to reports by BILD, prices for beer, water, and food at Oktoberfest 2022 have significantly increased compared to previous years. A one-liter mug of beer now ranges from 14.50 to 15.80 euros, marking an increase of nearly 40% compared to the prices in 2019.

The most expensive dish at this year's Oktoberfest can be found in the Braurosl tent. The basic version of the steak costs 179 euros, while the deluxe version, featuring black truffle and BĂŠarnaise sauce, sets a record for the most expensive dish at Oktoberfest, priced at 229 euros. This tent also offers the priciest water, with some locations charging more than 15 euros for a liter.

Interestingly, in 2022, a liter of water at Oktoberfest will cost more than a beer. The average price of a bottle of mineral water stands at 10.95 euros. Meanwhile, children's portions like small schnitzels will cost between 16 to 20 euros.

Half a chicken in the Paulaner tent now costs 24.50 euros, up from 12.40 euros in 2019. These price hikes have raised concerns among some festival-goers, who worry that the rising costs may deter visitors from enjoying the traditional Bavarian fare.

Despite the increased prices, Oktoberfest 2022 promises to be a memorable event, filled with music, laughter, and the spirit of Bavarian culture. Visitors are encouraged to plan their budgets accordingly and embrace the unique experience that Oktoberfest offers.
